Letter From our Executive Director
Since opening its doors in 1956, the Cossaboom Family YMCA has been a cornerstone of Houston’s culturally diverse east end. We, the staff and volunteers, have been committed to making it a center point of the community. The east end is currently under going a tremendous change with the goal of bringing its residents together and forming a very strong community and we believe that the Cossaboom
Family YMCA must be a vital part of this growth. We
are more than just a place to work out; we are a place
of fellowship and building lasting relationships.
At our YMCA, our goal is to build healthy spirits, minds and bodies. People of all
ages and from all backgrounds come to the Cossaboom Family
YMCA to meet and participate in our numerous programs and utilize our many services.
It is our goal to offer programming specifically designed for children, teens, adults, seniors and most of
all families. Through extensive outreach efforts, a team of dedicated staff and volunteers touch the lives of those in the local community
each day. We also provide low cost-housing for men in our 102-room residence building.
We strongly believe
that by providing these programs and services that the
Cossaboom Family YMCA is instrumental in bringing people
of diversity together. Diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Through this commitment we are able to practice and pass on the YMCA of Greater Houston Area’s five core values of honesty, responsibility,
respect, caring and faith.
As a result there
is a tremendous amount of camaraderie that exists at
the Cossaboom Family YMCA, both among our many long-time
members and those who have recently joined. It is a
true sense of family that you are sure to notice as soon as you walk through our door.
The Cossaboom Family YMCA has long been a part of the Houston community and continues to build on a rich tradition of service. We look forward to a bright future
and we hope you will become a part of it by joining the YMCA and our Cossaboom family.
